Less than a day after heavy rainfall inundated the 4R Electrical Govind Park in Ba, the facility demonstrated a remarkable recovery, highlighting the effectiveness of its upgraded turf and drainage systems. Following a series of downpours that left parts of the field submerged, images emerged, prompting concerns over the venue’s readiness. However, by the next day, the ground had drained efficiently, showing no signs of excess water, just in time for the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua’s inaugural match in Ba next weekend.

Moshim Khan, Special Administrator of the Ba Town Council, emphasized the importance of this rapid recovery, crediting the high-quality design of the park. “You can see how this turf has been designed. There is no waterlogging here. It is so perfectly designed that even during rainy days, you can have games,” he said, underscoring the resilience of the facility.

The recently installed drainage system, part of comprehensive renovations, is specifically engineered to quickly redirect excess water, ensuring the field remains playable even after heavy rain. This swift recovery not only reassures stakeholders about the venue’s readiness but also builds excitement for the Drua’s landmark first appearance in Ba, promising an outstanding rugby experience irrespective of weather conditions. The capability of the park to withstand adverse weather further cements its status as a premier venue for sporting events.
