Fiji and Indonesia are reinforcing their collaborative efforts to advance the development of Fiji’s bamboo industry. This partnership was highlighted at the conclusion of a two-week Training of Trainers program conducted in Yogyakarta, where Saimone Tauvoli, the Acting Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Fisheries and Forestry, expressed appreciation for Indonesia’s ongoing support.
Tauvoli noted that the training program has established a solid foundation for the growth of Fiji’s bamboo sector. Through this initiative, Fijian participants gained critical technical skills, transforming them from mere trainees into resource leaders prepared to drive sustainable development efforts within their communities.
Moreover, Tauvoli articulated that this collaborative venture aligns with Fiji’s broader objectives of environmental conservation, community empowerment, and fostering economic growth through bamboo cultivation.
