Axellerate Aflame Brothers Eye Wairiki 7s in Taveuni After Yalovata Victory

Following their exhilarating victory in the final of the Yalovata Lomaiviti 7s tournament, where they edged out Bureta 17-12, the Axellerate Aflame Brothers rugby team from Sigatoka is setting its sights on the upcoming Wairiki 7s tournament, slated to take place next week in Taveuni. This win has fueled their determination to end the year on a high note and build on their recent success.

Captain Apisai Naruma praised the players for their relentless effort and commitment throughout the Yalovata 7s tournament, recognizing the hard work that led them to the final. “The boys have put in their hard work, coming to this tournament, we knew it wasn’t an easy task to reach the final and get the win, but I would like to thank the boys for their dedication throughout the tournament,” Naruma expressed.

As they look forward to Taveuni, Naruma emphasized the team’s objective of securing another victory before the year concludes, viewing this as not just a sporting achievement but also a meaningful Christmas gift for the players. “Our focus now will shift to Taveuni, the Wairiki 7s. Getting another win before the year ends will be a significant achievement,” he noted.

Despite their recent success, Naruma acknowledged that the team had moments of sluggishness during the tournament and indicated an eagerness to improve. “We will go back and look at our mistakes. We were a bit slow in a few of our games, so we will be looking to work on that before heading to Taveuni,” he remarked.

With preparations already in motion for the Wairiki 7s, scheduled for December 11-13, the Axellerate Aflame Brothers are keen to maintain their momentum and finish the year strong, ensuring they give their best performance on the field. The upcoming tournament presents an exciting opportunity for the team to further showcase their talent and determination.
