Recent data indicates that Austin, the capital city of Texas, is among the top locations in the state for lottery wins during the holiday season. According to a report by Casino.org, Austin has been ranked as the fifth luckiest city in Texas for holiday lottery victories, reflecting a growing trend of successful ticket purchases in the area.
The Casino.org report utilized exclusive freedom of information requests to analyze five years of holiday lottery results, accounting for more than 9,000 wins from both scratch-off tickets and lottery draws during significant holiday dates, including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day.
Carrollton tops the list of luckiest cities, having celebrated a remarkable jackpot win of $2.1 million. Following it are Laredo with $2 million and Houston at $1.1 million. In comparison, Austin’s highest jackpot win recorded was $474,500, with the luckiest store in the city being Winners Corner TX LLC, located at 7817 Rockwood Lane Suite 101B, which has seen $419,000 in wins overall. Notably, this store made headlines earlier this year when it sold a winning $83.5 million lotto ticket. Additionally, one lucky Austin resident claimed a $2 million Powerball ticket from Winners Corner in 2023.
Despite this success, the store is currently marked as temporarily closed on Google Maps, following an investigation initiated by Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick regarding ownership concerns tied to a courier service’s involvement in purchasing winning tickets. The Texas Lottery settled a related lawsuit earlier this year after the winning individual proved she bought $20 worth of tickets through this service.
Round Rock, another city in the Austin area, has also been recognized for its lottery wins, placing sixth in the state with total jackpot prize sums amounting to $152,500. The luckiest store in Round Rock, Refuel 205, located on I-35 S, has contributed $150,000 in jackpot prize wins.
Across Texas, the most successful store brands for lottery tickets this year were Racetrac, which amassed $2.1 million in wins, Murphy Express with $2 million, and Kroger at $1 million. Other notable retailers in the top ten include Circle K, H-E-B, Brookshire Food Store, Stripes, Flying J, and 7-Eleven.
In 2023, there have already been four significant lottery wins documented in both Austin and Round Rock, as per Texas Lottery reports. Impressively, Texas holds the title of the fifth luckiest state in the nation, having accumulated over $8.2 million in holiday lottery wins. This track record indicates a promising trend for Texans hoping to hit the jackpot this holiday season, elevating the festive spirit and adding excitement for local residents.
