Army Boxer Foama Seru Sparks Day One Win as Sukuna Bowl Kicks Off

ARMY boxer Foama Seru claimed the final victory on Day One of the Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl boxing competition, defeating Fenton Thagard from the Police Academy in Nasova. The match concluded in the second round when the referee intervened due to Thagard’s inability to continue, securing a triumphant start for Seru.

Alfred Ledua, head coach of the Army boxing team, expressed his pride in the fighters’ performances during the opening day. He highlighted the significance of hard work over raw talent and praised the boxers for their commitment. “It is a great start to the competition, both teams fought well and it’s only just day one,” Ledua remarked.

While acknowledging the strong challenge posed by the defending champions, Ledua expressed confidence in his team’s skills. He noted the importance of reviewing their strategies and learning from the mistakes made during the bouts. “Police is a tough side with more experienced boxers, but we set our targets for day one and achieved them. We will analyze our performance and return stronger for the finals,” he added.

Ledua extended his gratitude to the boxers for their hard work in preparation for the tournament, encouraging them to maintain their efforts as they aim for success in the upcoming matches. “Thanks to the boxers for their dedication leading up to this competition, we hope for the best on days two and three,” he concluded.

Boxing will continue today, with the events expected to culminate in exciting finals on Wednesday, promising captivating matchups that showcase the talent and dedication of the participants. This year’s Sukuna Bowl is not only a highlight for the athletes but also a celebration of unity and sportsmanship within the boxing community, igniting local passion for the sport as fans look forward to more thrilling performances.
