Alyssa Farah Griffin has been noticeably absent from “The View” this week after the Thanksgiving break, sparking curiosity among fans and viewers of the popular talk show. When the show returned on Monday, Griffin was missing from the Hot Topics table, leading to speculation about her absence.
After a few days, Griffin took to social media to explain her situation. In an Instagram Story, she revealed, “Hey guys! I’ve been down sick with a stomach virus but will hopefully be back on The View tomorrow.” She expressed that being unwell is particularly challenging given that she is 6.5 months pregnant, stating, “It’s no fun being sick.” Additionally, she advised her followers, “Remember it’s that time of year — be smart, use hand sanitizer, stay home if you’re sick,” underscoring the ongoing importance of health precautions.
Whoopi Goldberg, during Monday’s episode, noted Griffin’s absence as she sat with fellow co-hosts Sarah Haines, Ana Navarro, and Sunny Hostin, while Joy Behar, who typically doesn’t appear on Mondays, was also not present.
Griffin joined “The View” in 2022, bringing a conservative perspective to discussions after a career in the Trump administration. As a political analyst, she previously served as the Press Secretary for Vice President Mike Pence and later for the Department of Defense. Notably, she was the 3rd White House Director of Strategic Communications under Donald Trump before resigning in late 2020, where she later publicly condemned Trump for his role in the U.S. Capitol attack on January 6, 2021.
Viewers look forward to her return to the show, where she will rejoin the panel to engage in discussions about pressing political and pop culture issues. Despite her current illness, Griffin’s proactive communication and focus on health serve as a reminder of the importance of self-care, especially for those who are pregnant.
