Celebrated artist Alex Ross is set to delight fans this September with the release of his new graphic novel, “Marvel Dimensions,” a 112-page work from Abrams ComicArts and Marvel Comics. This latest endeavor follows the critical acclaim garnered by his previous project, “Fantastic Four: Full Circle,” which reinvigorated a classic Stan Lee and Jack Kirby story through Ross’s iconic illustrations.

Unlike “Full Circle,” which adhered more closely to traditional storytelling, “Marvel Dimensions” promises a much more experimental approach. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the graphic novel will introduce nearly 200 characters or variations on beloved figures from the Marvel Universe, including the origins of Spider-Man, Hulk, Wolverine, and Iron Man. The narrative is designed to surprise readers with unexpected twists, featuring various art styles and a unique format that transforms mid-story, all crafted to create an immersive, unpredictable experience.

Ross expressed his ambition for the book, stating, “It’s meant to be as bonkers a ride for the reader as it could possibly be.” He aims to unify different story elements and artistic styles into a cohesive narrative that engages readers in a wild and unpredictable journey.

Reflecting on his earlier work in the late ’90s and early 2000s with DC comics, Ross noted that he sought to avoid repeating himself. This novel represents his longest project to date that he has both written and illustrated, blending elements from his acclaimed works “Marvels” and “Kingdom Come.”

Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski praised Ross’s talents, calling him “a once-in-a-generation artist and a storytelling master,” and expressed excitement about the collaboration with Abrams to bring this ambitious project to life.

Ross dedicated 18 months to crafting “Marvel Dimensions,” employing a combination of painted and pen-and-ink illustrations. Notably, this year marks the 30th anniversary of “Kingdom Come,” which has been featured in a documentary that premiered at the San Diego Comic-Con, further underscoring his significant contributions to the comic book industry.

“Marvel Dimensions” is scheduled to hit bookstore shelves on September 1, 2026, and anticipation is building for what promises to be another groundbreaking work from Alex Ross.
