Former Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum expressed his unwavering commitment to justice amidst what he perceives as injustice. In a recent interview with New Zealand-based Radio Tarana, Sayed-Khaiyum emphasized the importance of maintaining one’s dignity and principles, asserting that surrendering to oppression is never an option.
“You never bow down in the face of injustice. You never bow down to oppression, and you never lower your dignity, but you must always maintain and speak the truth,” he stated. He conveyed that the challenges he currently faces have only solidified his resolve, underscoring the need to stand firm in one’s beliefs.
Sayed-Khaiyum reiterated his unwavering stance, emphasizing that it is crucial to uphold values and principles. “Now, more than ever before, I am affirmed in my values and principles, and I believe that ultimately, the truth will always prevail, irrespective of any injustice that may take place – false charges, political charges, or name-calling on social media,” he remarked.
Drawing strength from his faith and family, he described these elements as deeply personal sources of resilience. He reflected on the transient nature of material goods, stating, “You don’t take anything with you. The only things that remain are your faith and the good deeds you leave behind—deeds that continue to benefit others even after you are gone.”
Sayed-Khaiyum’s message resonates with a sense of hope, highlighting the importance of integrity and the enduring impact of one’s actions, suggesting that in every challenge lies an opportunity for reaffirmation of one’s core beliefs.
