Ryan ten Doeschate, the team’s assistant coach, shared an update on Abhishek’s condition, expressing cautious optimism: “Abhi still has a few issues with his tummy. We are hopeful that he’ll be available for the game in two days’ time.” During the game against the USA, Abhishek was dismissed without scoring and was unable to take the field for India’s innings, with Sanju Samson substituting for him throughout.
A source from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed, “Abhishek has been admitted to a private hospital in Delhi due to a stomach infection. Some tests are being done to ascertain the problem. It is still not clear whether he will be discharged today. But match against Namibia looks doubtful as of now.”
In light of these developments, Washington Sundar has joined the Indian squad as they prepare for their second group-stage fixture against Namibia. Ten Doeschate confirmed his arrival and stated that he would train with the team.
