The United States Mint has announced that it will begin accepting orders for the 2026 American Eagle One Ounce Silver Proof Coin starting February 26, 2026, at noon EST. This particular release is significant as it commemorates the Semiquincentennial of the nation’s founding, featuring the inscription “1776 ~ 2026” alongside a distinctive Liberty Bell privy mark which includes the number “250.”

The coin, produced at the United States Mint in West Point, is made from 99.9% fine silver and features a reeded edge, with a selling price set at $173, although this price may vary in the future. Customers interested in making a purchase can set up a “Remind Me” alert, use the Mint’s Product Subscription Program, and explore additional American Eagle products available.

The United States Mint, created by Congress in 1792 and incorporated into the Department of the Treasury in 1873, serves as the sole manufacturer of legal tender coinage in the country. Its responsibilities extend beyond circulating coinage to include the production of proof, uncirculated, and commemorative coins, Congressional Gold Medals, as well as silver and gold bullion coins. Notably, the Mint’s numismatic programs operate independently without imposing costs on taxpayers.

As enthusiasts and collectors prepare for this new silver coin release, the 2026 American Eagle serves not only as an investment opportunity but also as a meaningful tribute to the nation’s rich history and resilience.
