TAVEUNI Grassroots under-20 team captain Ratu Nacani Virivirisai has emerged as a promising talent in the rugby landscape, earning accolades from former national sevens player and current head coach Sireli Bobo. At just 19 years old, Virivirisai, who hails from Daviqele in Nabukelevu, Kadavu, with family roots in Yavulo, Sigatoka, is establishing himself as a crucial playmaker for the Nadroga U20 team.

Bobo, who has been pivotal in the Grassroots development initiative, has praised Virivirisai’s remarkable skill set displayed over the last ten months. He believes that the young athlete, along with other standout players, could soon find themselves on the national team roster. “Virivirisai is a highly talented playmaker, and we’re fortunate that he is still only 19 years old, making him eligible for the Coral Coast Sevens,” commented Bobo, highlighting the player’s significant potential.

As the Coral Coast Sevens draws near, Virivirisai is hopeful about his team’s readiness for the challenge. He acknowledged the obstacles they may face but expressed a strong belief in their preparations. “We have trained very hard over the past two weeks. There are still a few things to perfect before the competition, but we are confident in our achievements thus far and what we can accomplish,” he stated.

The under-20 team, albeit young, is filled with ambition and enthusiasm. Their unwavering determination and commitment suggest a bright future ahead for these aspiring athletes, and the rugby community is eagerly anticipating their performance in the upcoming tournament. With each stride, Virivirisai and his teammates are not only honing their skills but also embodying hope for the next generation of rugby players.
