KANSAS CITY, Kan. – In an initiative aimed at improving travel across state lines, a Kansas bus line is expanding its route to include a new stop in the Plaza area. The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, announced this change on Friday, indicating that the 107 7th Street route will now extend to the Plaza stop to facilitate easier connections with the Streetcar system.

This expansion is set to take effect on Monday, January 5, 2026. The redesigned route will take passengers from 43rd and State Line Road, proceeding east on 43rd Street, then southeast on Roanoke Parkway, and continuing east on 47th Street through Country Club Plaza before arriving at the Plaza Streetcar stop.

Deasiray Bush, Transit Director for the Unified Government, expressed excitement about the changes, stating, “The rerouting of 107 7th Street to connect directly with the Plaza and the KC Streetcar marks a significant step forward for our community. This new connection will greatly enhance mobility, making it easier for residents and visitors to access the heart of our city. By improving transit options and fostering greater accessibility, we are strengthening our community’s economic vitality and social cohesion. This development truly represents a brighter, more connected future for all of us.”

This change was made possible through collaboration with the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA), reflecting a commitment to expanding transit options and improving accessibility for the region.
