A beautiful Tuesday has brought temperatures into the upper 40s to lower 50s, accompanied by abundant sunshine and gusty westerly winds. However, the pleasant weather will soon give way as winter conditions set in across the region.
According to Fox Chicago Meteorologist Emily Wahls, temperatures will dip to the mid-20s tonight, setting the stage for a chilly Wednesday. The day’s high will be reached at midnight in the upper 30s, before a significant weather pattern shifts in.
Tomorrow, heavy lake effect snow is expected in parts of Northwest Indiana, with a Winter Storm Warning taking effect Wednesday morning and lasting until midday Thursday for LaPorte County. During this period, areas could see 6-8 inches of snow where the heaviest bands form, likely causing travel disruptions. Additionally, a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Porter County, predicting 2-5 inches of snow from Wednesday morning through early Thursday.
For the rest of the Chicagoland area, scattered snow showers are anticipated on Wednesday, but accumulations should be minimal with temperatures hovering in the mid-20s.
As the week progresses, skies will turn partly cloudy on Thursday, with temperatures remaining in the mid-20s. Another storm system is forecasted to arrive Thursday evening, potentially bringing around an inch or less of snow overnight. On Friday, scattered snow showers are likely with highs in the mid-30s.
Heading into the weekend, a cooler trend is expected, particularly on Sunday, when temperatures will drop to the upper teens. The Bears’ game forecast indicates that kickoff temperatures will fall to the low to mid-teens, with wind chills potentially dipping into single digits or near zero, reminding everyone to bundle up for the frigid conditions.
