The Golden State Warriors have officially signed two-way guard Pat Spencer to a full-season contract, according to his agency and reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania on Saturday. This marks the second consecutive season that the Warriors have upgraded Spencer’s contract to a full roster position.

Spencer made a significant impact last April when he was promoted right before the playoffs, contributing 36 points in just 63 minutes across the postseason. Despite his strong performance, he did not secure a guaranteed spot with any teams over the summer, leading him to rejoin the Warriors on a two-way deal just before training camp commenced.

His return has paid off for the franchise, as Spencer has started five games and made a total of 36 appearances this season. He has been instrumental during times when superstar Stephen Curry has been sidelined, providing the team with essential playmaking and scoring depth. For instance, in a recent game on Thursday night against Phoenix, he started and scored 20 points while logging 32 minutes on the court.

With this latest contract, Spencer becomes the 14th player on the Warriors’ roster. The move comes after the Warriors were able to create space by trading Jonathan Kuminga, Buddy Hield, and Trayce Jackson-Davis, while bringing in Kristaps Porzingis.

Additionally, there are reports that veteran free agent guard Lonzo Ball is being considered for the 15th roster spot, as first noted by NBA insider Jake Fischer. This evolution in the team’s roster highlights the Warriors’ strategic adjustments as they look to enhance their lineup and maintain competitiveness in the league.

The ongoing development of Spencer’s role within the team signals a promising future for both him and the Warriors, showcasing how determined talent can flourish with the right opportunities.
