The Wake Forest baseball team is gearing up for an exciting 2026 season, filled with both promise and uncertainty in their outfield lineup. Fans are keenly anticipating who will emerge as a standout player when the season kicks off on February 13. The Demon Deacons are harnessing a mix of returning talent and new transfers to fortify their roster, particularly in the outfield.

A key figure making waves is newcomer Boston Torres, who transferred from VMI after a remarkable season that saw him achieve a .337 batting average, a .465 on-base percentage, and a .580 slugging percentage. He hit 11 home runs and drove in 67 RBIs, showcasing talents that may have gone unnoticed due to VMI’s lesser visibility in collegiate athletics. Torres is expected to secure one of the corner outfield positions, likely taking on left field where his powerful offense can significantly contribute.

Also returning to bolster the lineup are Javar Williams and Luke Costello. Williams was a reliable presence in center field last season with a .271 batting average, a .405 on-base percentage, and 32 RBIs. His speed shone through, as he was a constant threat on the bases with 16 stolen bases to his credit.

Costello, who is entering his sophomore year, added further depth to the outfield. He posted a .290 batting average, a .394 on-base percentage, along with 10 home runs and 28 RBIs last season. The combination of Torres, Williams, and Costello provides the Demon Deacons with a formidable offensive outlook for the upcoming season.

The team’s journey begins at the Puerto Rico Challenge, where they are scheduled to face Houston on February 13, followed by matches against Washington and Indiana State on February 14 and 15, respectively. Following this stretch, the team will return home to host High Point on February 17.

With the dynamic blend of established players and promising new talent, Wake Forest’s outfield is poised for development as they aim for a strong performance in the 2026 season. This optimistic outlook has fans excited about the team’s potential impact.
