OREM — The 2A and 3A state drill competition concluded with two teams achieving remarkable victories, showcasing their prowess in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the UCCU Center at Utah Valley University.
In the 2A category, South Sevier triumphed by sweeping all three categories – military, dance, and show – to secure their second state championship title in four years. This victory marks the 14th title in the program’s history and the 10th since 2012, a notable achievement considering this year’s senior class began their high school journey as freshmen just as the team started its impressive run.
Meanwhile, in the 3A category, Canyon View proved their dominance by finishing first in both the military and dance categories, earning the Talons their fifth consecutive state championship. This remarkable streak ties Canyon View for the seventh-longest championship run since the Utah High School Activities Association began sanctioning competitive drill in 1983. Morgan claimed victory in the show category, coming in second overall, with Manti, Juab, and Ogden following close behind.
The competition highlighted the dedication and talent of these teams, reflecting the high level of skill and teamwork involved in competitive drill. As these teams continue to break records and set standards, their achievements inspire future participants and emphasize the importance of commitment to excellence in school activities.
