Former NWA World Heavyweight Champion Tyrus, who is also known for his time in WWE as Brodus Clay, has become a divisive figure in the realm of professional wrestling in recent years, particularly due to his active involvement in politics and his role as an analyst on Fox News. In a recent interview with TMZ’s “Inside the Bell,” Tyrus, who has now retired from the wrestling ring, emphasized his desire to keep his different careers separate.

“I don’t talk a lot about wrestling or politics on my stand-up tour,” Tyrus remarked. He clarified that during his appearances on Fox, he seldom discusses wrestling, acknowledging that the two interests cater to distinct audiences. Reflecting on his days with NWA, he stated, “I would never bring politics into the ring. I just don’t think there’s any place for politics in the ring… When people come to see a wrestling event, they want to have a good time… they don’t need to argue about who they voted for.”

As he embarks on his third year of touring with his comedy show, Tyrus compared the experience to wrestling house shows. He mentioned a preference for performing in smaller towns to provide a more intimate experience for his audience. “I used to love doing the house shows in places we were the only show in town,” he explained, noting the appeal of selling out smaller venues that range from 700 to 1,500 seats.

Tyrus’s commitment to maintaining the separation between his comedic and wrestling pursuits speaks to his understanding of audience expectations in both arenas. As he continues to engage with fans through his comedy, he ensures that the focus remains on entertainment rather than diving into divisive topics. His tour is not just a career endeavor but a way to foster enjoyment and connection with audiences across the country.
