Newly revealed information from the US Department of Justice indicates that former President Donald Trump was a passenger on Jeffrey Epstein’s private jet eight times between 1993 and 1996, a detail that has emerged more frequently than previously acknowledged. The findings come from a January 7, 2020 email written by an assistant US attorney, which states, “Donald Trump traveled on Epstein’s private jet many more times than previously reported.”
While Trump’s name was included in Epstein’s flight records, the DOJ clarified that this does not imply any wrongdoing on his part. Trump has consistently denied any inappropriate involvement with Epstein and, in 2024, stated, “I was never on Epstein’s Plane.” Furthermore, the DOJ released a statement asserting that some documents made public include “untrue and sensationalist claims” about Trump, asserting these claims to be false and lacking credibility.
Trump had a long-term association with Epstein—until their reported fallout around 2004, which occurred years before Epstein’s first arrest. The latest document release comprises over 30,000 pages of the so-called Epstein files, a result of the DOJ’s legal obligation to disclose certain information by the end of last week.
In the email detailing Trump’s travels, it was noted that he was a passenger alongside Epstein and other associates, including Ghislaine Maxwell. While the details of some flights are still redacted, it specified that on at least one occasion in 1993, Trump and Epstein were the only two passengers listed. The email also highlights that all the flights took place during a period where charges against Maxwell were anticipated. In 2022, Maxwell received a 20-year sentence for multiple crimes, including sex trafficking and conspiracy to entice minors.
This latest disclosure reignites discussions surrounding Epstein’s extensive network and relationships, further illuminating the complexities of his associations, including high-profile individuals like Trump. The emphasis on transparency from the DOJ indicates a commitment to disclosing information while protecting the identities of Epstein’s victims. Amidst the controversy, the released documents serve as both a reminder of the ongoing legal ramifications associated with Epstein’s crimes and the need for transparency in high-profile cases.
