Donald Trump has granted clemency to Adriana Camberos, a woman previously imprisoned for fraud, marking the second time he has intervened in her legal troubles. Camberos initially received a commutation from Trump just before the conclusion of his first presidency in 2021. Her prior conviction stemmed from a scheme to divert bottles of 5-Hour Energy drink that were intended for resale in Mexico, which she and her co-conspirators rebranded with counterfeit labels and filled with fake liquid for sale in the U.S.

In a separate legal development, in 2024, Camberos and her brother, Andres, faced conviction once again. This time, they were found guilty of misrepresenting their intentions to manufacturers while selling wholesale groceries and various items at substantial discounts, claiming they were meant for sale in Mexico or for prisoners and rehabilitation facilities. Instead, they sold these products at inflated prices to distributors within the United States.

On Thursday, Trump announced a total of 13 pardons, including those for notable figures such as the father of a major donor to his super PAC and former Puerto Rican governor Wanda Vázquez, who pleaded guilty to campaign finance violations. The following day, Trump also pardoned Terren Peizer, a healthcare executive who was sentenced to 42 months in prison and fined $5.25 million for engaging in an insider trading scheme that aimed to mitigate losses exceeding $12.5 million.

These clemencies are part of Trump’s broader efforts during his second term to address various criminal cases, even those that had garnered attention from federal prosecutors. This move aligns with his administration’s ongoing attempts to reshape legal oversight and public integrity standards, illustrated by the controversial dismissal of the justice department’s pardon attorney.
