The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s food safety division has issued a recall for certain Trader Joe’s frozen chicken fried rice products after reports of glass contamination. Consumers are advised to dispose of or return any chicken fried rice with best-by dates from September 8 to November 17, 2026, as part of the recall initiated due to four reported incidents of glass found in the product.

This chicken fried rice, produced by Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. based in Portland, Oregon, was distributed to Trader Joe’s locations across the country, including two stores in the Milwaukee area—one at Bayshore shopping mall in Glendale and another in Brookfield. Additionally, there is a Trader Joe’s store in Madison, Wisconsin.

Fortunately, the USDA reported that no injuries have been linked to the contaminated product, although specific details regarding the residences of those who made the complaints were not disclosed. The swift action by both Trader Joe’s and the USDA highlights the commitment to consumer safety and the importance of addressing potential hazards in food products.

Consumers are encouraged to remain vigilant and check their freezers for the affected chicken fried rice to ensure their safety. As always, staying informed about food recalls helps to mitigate risks and ensures a safer dining experience for all.
