Parties are poised to commence the trial of Anare Vuli Cilicewa, who stands accused of the murder of Shabreen Shain Ali in Raiwaqa, Suva, in 2024. The trial is set for April 2026 under the watchful eye of Justice Pita Bulamainaivalu at the High Court in Suva.

Cilicewa allegedly stabbed Ali during a heated argument and subsequently committed further acts that led to her death. Previous court sessions have revealed that the State plans to present 29 witnesses, including a pivotal pathologist, to bolster their case. Both the prosecution and defense have indicated that the trial will focus on the critical issue of the identity of the perpetrator.

At this time, Mr. Cilicewa remains in custody as the case is adjourned until January 19, 2026, affording both parties ample opportunity to prepare for the upcoming proceedings. As the legal process unfolds, it is essential to seek justice for the life tragically lost, with hopes that the truth will prevail in this complex case.
