A tragic incident occurred on the evening of February 7, 2026, in St. Cloud, where 22-year-old Hallie Tobler was found stabbed to death. Her husband, 23-year-old Dylan Tobler, who is currently hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, is suspected of both the stabbing of Hallie and inflicting wounds upon himself, according to the St. Cloud Police Department.

Emergency responders arrived at the 3100 block of 40th Ave. S. shortly after 8:15 p.m. to what they initially categorized as a medical emergency. Upon their arrival, Hallie was discovered deceased, while Dylan was found critically injured. Records indicate that the couple married in November 2021.

As of Sunday evening, Dylan remains hospitalized but is reported to be in stable condition. He will be taken into custody and moved to Stearns County Jail upon his discharge from the hospital. Pending charges against him could include homicide, as investigators allege he fatally stabbed his wife. An autopsy by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Hallie Tobler’s cause of death as stab wounds.

This incident marks St. Cloud’s first homicide of 2026, in a city that recorded five homicides in the previous year, with several related to domestic violence. Reflecting on this situation, the Republican Party of Minnesota expressed their condolences for Hallie’s family, highlighting the unimaginable loss faced by former St. Cloud City Council member Jeff Johnson, who has temporarily suspended his gubernatorial campaign in light of the tragedy.

In response to this heartbreaking event, advocates are calling attention to resources available for those affected by domestic violence. The Minnesota DayOne hotline is available at (866) 223-1111 for individuals in need of assistance. Additionally, Anna Marie’s Alliance, a local organization focused on domestic abuse, can be reached at (320) 253-6900 for support. Sexual assault victims can contact the Central Minnesota Sexual Assault Center at (320) 251-4357.

This tragic case serves as a reminder of the ongoing issues surrounding domestic violence, reinforcing the importance of support services and awareness in the community.
