South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) Fiji has announced the successful relocation of its Nausori branch, which plays a pivotal role in the organization’s ongoing mission to empower women entrepreneurs across the nation. The new office was officially blessed and inaugurated by Reverend Savenaca Nakeke, Divisional Superintendent of the Nausori Methodist Division, who aptly referred to it as “a lighthouse that people can run to for help.”
During the opening ceremony, Reverend Nakeke invoked the biblical story of the Talents, emphasizing a critical principle: resources should be multiplied rather than hoarded. He conveyed a vision of growth and societal influence, stating, “God is not looking for us to simply preserve our lives or our faith in a bubble. He expects us to grow, multiply, and influence the world around us.”
Lorraine Seeto, Managing Director of SPBD Fiji, welcomed attendees to the new location, located just a short distance from the previous site. Seeto underscored that this relocation goes beyond a simple change of address; it signifies growth, progress, and a renewed commitment to effectively serve its members.
Strategically positioned at the heart of Nausori’s commercial activity, the new branch is conveniently near the market and bus stand, enhancing accessibility for the 89 centers supported by the branch’s dedicated team of five members. Seeto expressed her gratitude to the organization’s partners for their contributions, which included essential items like an urn, fridge, and sandwich maker to facilitate operations in the new office.
Since establishing operations in Fiji in December 2010, SPBD has expanded to include ten branches across Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, and the maritime islands. The Nausori branch, established in 2024, rapidly outgrew its original location, indicative of the rising demand for microfinance support among women entrepreneurs.
Looking ahead, Seeto announced ambitious plans for SPBD Fiji to launch its 11th branch in Korovou by mid-2026, with training for staff already in progress. This momentous occasion encapsulates SPBD’s enduring commitment, founded by Gregory Casagrande in 2000, to transform potential into prosperity for women in the Pacific. The positive developments signify a hopeful future as more women gain access to essential resources and support for their entrepreneurial journeys.
