Despite persistent rain, members of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus, Lautoka branch, actively participated in their regular city clean-up campaign last weekend. Approximately 30 church members and children assembled in Lautoka, showcasing their dedication to environmental cleanliness and community service.

Under the leadership of church officials, the volunteers tackled a designated route, beginning from SPD and passing through Navutu to the main roundabout, ultimately heading towards the Natabua junction. The wet weather did not deter their efforts as they gathered plastic, cans, bottles, and paper waste from the roadside walkways and drains, managing to fill 12 large sacks with rubbish.

The initiative received support from the Lautoka City Council, who accompanied the group and assisted with rubbish disposal services. A representative from the church emphasized that this clean-up activity was not only focused on maintaining the city’s cleanliness but also on reducing environmental pollution, educating young people about civic responsibility, and positively impacting the community.

The participation of children illustrates the church’s commitment to instilling a sense of environmental responsibility from a young age, as residents observed the group working diligently in the rain. The Shincheonji Church of Jesus regularly conducts community clean-up efforts and charitable initiatives alongside its spiritual activities. Looking ahead, the church plans to expand its volunteer programs to enhance the health, hygiene, and well-being of communities in Lautoka.
