The Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency’s Public Health Branch is actively investigating a confirmed case of measles within the county. The agency has confirmed that the patient is currently in isolation to mitigate the risk of spreading this highly contagious disease until their infectious period concludes.

In response to this situation, Public Health Branch staff are reaching out to individuals who may have come into contact with the patient during the infectious eight-day period. They are working in conjunction with multiple locations to inform both employees and the public who were present at these sites during the specified times.

The locations include Osaka Sushi on January 23 from 6:30 to 10 p.m., Cross Point Church during a basketball game on January 24 from 1:45 to 5 p.m., Costco on January 24 from 6:30 to 9 p.m., and Churn Creek Health Care Clinic on January 28 from 1:45 to 5 p.m.

Individuals who were at these locations during those times are urged to contact the Shasta County Measles Hotline at (530) 638-5580. The hotline is available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Sunday, for individuals to discuss their potential exposure with Public Health staff.

Public Health officials also emphasize the importance of verifying vaccination status. Those in attendance at the mentioned locations are advised to ensure they have received two doses of the measles vaccine, as those who have not may be at a heightened risk of contracting the disease.

This proactive response reflects a community commitment to public health and safety, showcasing the importance of vaccination and timely communication in controlling outbreaks.
