A series of minor earthquakes were reported in and around Nausori Town, Fiji, from the evening of February 14 into the early hours of February 15, according to Fiji Seismology. The most notable event took place at 9:09 PM last night, registering a magnitude of 3.3 at a depth of 11 kilometers, located approximately 8 kilometers northwest of Nausori Town. Residents along the Suva–Nausori corridor felt this tremor.

Earlier that evening, at 7:11 PM, a magnitude 2.8 earthquake was detected 9 kilometers north of Nausori Town, also at a depth of 11 kilometers. This quake was similarly felt along the Suva–Nausori corridor and did not lead to any tsunami alerts. Additionally, another earthquake was felt at 5:28 PM, measuring 2.5 in magnitude at a depth of 9 kilometers, situated about 3 kilometers east-northeast of Nakini village, with residents again reporting the sensation of this tremor.

Following these events, several smaller tremors occurred, including a magnitude 1.4 earthquake at 10:09 PM, a magnitude 1.2 at 12:29 AM, and a magnitude 1.1 at 1:10 AM the next day. All these recorded earthquakes were located between 10 and 11 kilometers northwest of Nausori Town, at shallow depths ranging from 6 to 7 kilometers.

Authorities have assured the public that none of these earthquakes present any immediate tsunami threat. Residents are encouraged to remain calm and stay updated with official communications regarding any further seismic activities. The community’s ability to respond effectively and stay informed reflects a resilience that can help mitigate anxiety during such natural events.
