Salesi Raiyasi, the Flying Fijian fullback, has committed his future to Top 14 club Bordeaux Begles by extending his contract until 2028. This decision comes despite significant interest from clubs like Bayonne and Stade Français Paris. Raiyasi, 29, has been in outstanding form since joining Bordeaux from RC Vannes in July 2025, netting six tries in just eleven matches. His dynamic playing style, marked by his Fijian flair and exceptional offloads, has made him a vital component of the team’s attacking strategies and a fan favorite.

Raiyasi’s impressive performances at the club level have been mirrored on the international stage, where he had a commendable debut season with the Flying Fijians. His initial appearance was against Australia, followed by three more caps, showcasing his reliability in both defense and attack under the guidance of coach Mick Byrne.

Raiyasi first gained recognition in New Zealand’s National Provincial Cup, playing for Auckland, where he showcased his talent in 53 appearances over five seasons. His Super Rugby debut with the Hurricanes came in 2019, during which he scored a try against the Chiefs in a commanding 47-19 victory.

In 2024, the talented player made the move to Vannes, a transition that, while curtailing his aspirations of representing the All Blacks, allowed him to follow in his father’s footsteps as a Flying Fijian. Raiyasi’s commitment to Bordeaux means fans can look forward to more thrilling performances from him in the coming years, reinforcing the club’s competitive edge in the Top 14. His journey reflects a blend of personal ambition and national pride, making him a player to watch as he continues to develop his career in Europe.
