ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The 2024 Olympics have proven to be an exhilarating experience for athletes hailing from the Rochester area, particularly for defender Haley Winn, a Webster native, who is part of the undefeated U.S. women’s hockey team. The team is set to compete against Sweden in the quarterfinals on Monday.

Amidst this sporting success, Haley’s three brothers have gained significant attention for their support, donning matching Team USA-themed outfits to cheer for both their country and their sister in Milan. News10NBC’s Kristi Blake spoke with Tommy, Ryan, and Casey Winn ahead of Haley’s upcoming semifinal match.

The brothers have risen to viral fame due to their exuberant attire and spirited behavior during games. Their synchronized outfits initially began at the 2024 World Championship in Utica, NY, and none of them could have expected the overwhelming popularity they have received online. Tommy shared his excitement about their latest ensemble, which included jean shorts and mullets: “It was kind of out of the box… it hit pretty hard and a lot of people ended up liking it.”

Ryan Winn noted the infectious energy they brought to the stands, especially during their rowdy support for Team USA against Italy. Casey hinted at a surprise addition for today’s game, keeping the specifics under wraps until game time.

The brothers never anticipated their outfits would gain such traction, even catching the attention of celebrity Snoop Dogg. With their outfits often sourced from Amazon, they joyfully collaborate on costume ideas. “We just bounce ideas off each other,” Ryan explained, showcasing their creative process.

While the brothers plan to tone down their outfits for the gold medal game, they acknowledge the excitement building around their appearances. “Everyone’s like, can’t wait to see what the gold medal game outfits are,” Ryan noted, reflecting their newfound fame.

Their journey from a backyard rink in Rochester to the Olympics is a source of immense pride for the family. “We’re so proud of her,” Tommy said, reminiscing about Haley’s early skating days. Their spirited support aims to bring attention to women’s hockey, a sport steeped in family tradition. As Ryan described, their journey began in their backyard, where their father would build the rink during each winter.

Haley, who has been skating since she was a toddler and is a graduate of Bishop Kearney, has already made her mark at the Olympics, scoring her first Olympic goal against Switzerland and assisting in a decisive 5-0 victory over Canada. The passion and support from her family serve as a testament to the strong connection between them and the sport.
