TAVEUNI Grassroots under-20 team captain Ratu Nacani Virivirisai has been recognized as a rising star in the rugby scene, praised by former national sevens player and team head coach Sireli Bobo. At just 19 years old and hailing from Daviqele, Nabukelevu, Kadavu, with maternal ties to Yavulo in Sigatoka, Virivirisai is already making waves as a key playmaker for the Nadroga U20 team.
Bobo has been instrumental in the Grassroots development program, where Virivirisai has demonstrated exceptional talent over the past ten months. He believes that Virivirisai, alongside a few other standout players, could be in line for national team selection in the near future. “Virivirisai is a gifted playmaker. We are fortunate that he is only 19 years old and eligible to compete in the Coral Coast Sevens,” Bobo remarked, emphasizing the young player’s potential.
As the Coral Coast Sevens approaches, Virivirisai remains optimistic about his team’s readiness. He acknowledged the challenges ahead but expressed confidence in their preparations. “We have trained very hard over the past two weeks. There are still a few things to perfect before the competition, but we are confident in what we have achieved so far and what we can accomplish,” he explained.
The under-20 team, though young, is brimming with ambition and enthusiasm. Their determination and dedication signal a promising future for these aspiring athletes, and the rugby community is eager to see how they will shine in the upcoming competition.
