Collecchio, 26 December 2025 – In the lead-up to Matchday 17 of Serie A, Parma’s Carlos Cuesta addressed reporters at the Mutti Training Centre regarding their upcoming clash with Fiorentina. The coach emphasized the importance of turning the disappointment from the recent loss against Lazio into motivation for a stronger performance on the field.

Cuesta expressed a need for the team to channel their previous match’s frustrations positively. “Facing Fiorentina? We need to turn the disappointment into something positive to take onto the pitch. That feeling has to fuel our determination and help us push for the result we want,” he stated, highlighting the importance of giving fans a reason to celebrate. He acknowledged Fiorentina’s strengths but stressed the necessity of focusing on their own game and controlling the aspects within their reach to secure a favorable outcome.

On the squad front, Cuesta confirmed that players Circati and Delprato would be available for selection, while long-term absentees Suzuki, Frigan, and Ndiaye will not be part of the matchday squad.

Building on their previous performances, Cuesta articulated a desire for the team to consolidate their strengths while simultaneously aiming for improvement. He noted that recent training has emphasized areas for development, such as team solidity, compactness in both defensive and offensive situations, and increasing goal-scoring opportunities even in challenging circumstances. The coach underscored the need for consistency and attentiveness to intricate details that could significantly influence the match’s outcome.

Cuesta also mentioned potential attacking threats, indicating that players like Ondrejka and Oristanio could play crucial roles in enhancing their offensive capabilities. Recognizing the league’s demands for one-on-one confrontations, he praised Mandela Keita for his dribbling skills, which are vital in such scenarios.

Additionally, Cuesta highlighted the balance between freedom and structure in play. “Freedom in football is organized. You have to recognize situations and do the right thing in the available spaces,” he explained, calling for improved game understanding and interpretation.

Lastly, the coach expressed regret over missing the opportunity to connect with fans during an open training session on December 24. He acknowledged the vital support provided by fans, stating, “They are very important to us and give us that extra energy which is crucial in matches like this. I hope we can give them something special to enjoy.”

As Parma looks forward to their match against Fiorentina, there is a palpable sense of optimism and determination to transform past disappointments into future successes. With the right focus and strategy, the team aims not only to perform well but also to solidify their bond with passionate supporters.
