The Florida Panthers are still awaiting the return of two key players, Matthew Tkachuk and Brad Marchand, as they prepare for their upcoming game against the Buffalo Sabres. Head coach Paul Maurice confirmed that both players will be absent from the lineup on Monday but are expected to participate in practice on Wednesday.

Maurice expressed optimism about the situation, stating, “We can do more in a practice that’s more game-like. … We can get some timing done with them, and hopefully we’ll see those guys soon.”

Tkachuk, who has not played since Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final, has been sidelined due to injuries incurred while representing Team USA in the 4 Nations Face-Off last February. After a summer of rehabilitation, he ultimately opted for surgery to address the issues.

Marchand’s absence follows a significant hit he took from Bobby McMann during the second period of a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Maurice noted that Marchand has been managing an unspecified injury that reached a point where further play could exacerbate the problem.

Despite these setbacks, there is a sense of hope within the Panthers’ camp as they look forward to reintegrating these talented players into the lineup. Their eventual return could significantly bolster the team’s performance as the season progresses.
