The Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Deputy Secretary General Esala Nayasi held a meeting on Wednesday with Palau’s Minister of State Gustav Aitaro and members of the National Planning Committee to strategize for the upcoming 55th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting (55PIFLM). This significant event is set to take place in Koror from August 30 to September 4, 2026.

During the discussions, the focus was on the preparations for the Leaders Meeting, emphasizing Palau’s objectives under the theme “BELAU – Building Economies: Life. Action. Unity.” The conversation aimed at enhancing collaboration between the Palauan government and the PIF Secretariat, ensuring that the meeting will not only address critical issues but also reflect the unity and shared aspirations of the Blue Pacific.

The PIF Secretariat expressed its dedication to partnering closely with Palau in the lead-up to the event, assuring that the Leaders Meeting will be a success and serve the interests of the Pacific region as a whole.
