Rewa FC’s head coach, Priyant Manu, has stated that their journey is far from over as they prepare for the crucial second leg of the Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion series against Labasa FC at Subrail Park. With a narrow 1-0 lead secured from the first match at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori, Manu cautions against complacency, emphasizing that the real test is still ahead.
Manu remarked, “It’s only one half of the CVC done. The approach for the team remains the same. The task is to win the match, knowing we cannot allow Labasa to take the front foot in the game.” He acknowledged the challenges posed by the upcoming match, particularly highlighting Subrail Park’s reputation as one of the toughest venues in the country, largely due to the enthusiastic support Labasa receives from its fans.
“The players know how hard it is playing in Labasa with the backing of their fans. We have been reminding them to keep their composure and play the simplest football possible,” he added. Labasa is expected to come out strong from the start, and Manu stressed the significance of maintaining structure and discipline throughout the match.
“We know Labasa will attack aggressively. It’s about how smart and structured we are, with and without the ball, to overcome them. Discipline under pressure is crucial in games like this, and that’s where our senior players must lead,” he stated.
A victory in today’s match would not only clinch the CVC title for Rewa but also create a positive momentum as they look ahead to the 2026 season, particularly following the exit of several key players. “Winning the CVC will be a great start to 2026, especially as we introduce new boys to rebuild the team. It will build confidence for the whole squad,” Manu commented.
The highly anticipated showdown kicks off at 1:30 pm at Subrail Park, promising an exciting contest that will determine the 2026 Champion vs Champion title. Both teams are set to deliver a thrilling performance, as they aim to impress their devoted fans. This match not only holds significant implications for the title but also serves as a pivotal moment for Rewa FC’s future aspirations.
