The newly established Bureau of the OACPS Committee of Ambassadors convened for its inaugural meeting at the OACPS headquarters in Brussels, marking the beginning of its term from February to July 2026. This significant meeting was chaired by Ambassador Pa Musa Jobarteh from The Gambia, alongside the participation of OACPS Secretary-General, Moussa Saleh Batraki.

During the meeting, several important agenda items were discussed, including the timetable for forthcoming Committee of Ambassadors meetings and preparations for the upcoming 11th OACPS Heads of State and Government Summit. This summit is scheduled to take place in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, from March 27 to 29, 2026. The Bureau also focused on issues deemed strategically important for the Member States.

Comprising ambassadors nominated by their regional counterparts to represent the organization’s six geographic regions, the Bureau for this term includes The Gambia as Chair, with representatives from various regions: Ghana for West Africa, yet to confirm a member for Central Africa, Maldives for East Africa, Mozambique for Southern Africa, Guyana for the Caribbean, and Timor-Leste for the Pacific.

Additionally, the Bureau Troika includes the outgoing Chair from the Solomon Islands, along with representatives from The Gambia and Ethiopia, offering continuity and support for the ongoing efforts of the Committee.

This meeting reflects the commitment of the OACPS to foster collaboration among its member states and prepare diligently for significant upcoming events. As the organization works towards strengthening its initiatives, the leadership transition within the Bureau signals a proactive approach to addressing the needs and aspirations of the nations it represents.
