Nio Inc. is set to achieve a remarkable milestone with the production of its one-millionth vehicle next week, an impressive accomplishment for the 11-year-old Chinese electric vehicle maker. Founder, Chairman, and CEO William Li expressed gratitude to the employees in an internal letter, emphasizing the vital role user support plays in the company’s journey. “Let us maintain our original commitment to being a user-centric enterprise, repaying user trust with better products, better services, and better operational performance,” Li stated.

Nio recently reported record deliveries, with 48,135 vehicles delivered in December, elevating their total deliveries for 2025 to 326,028 units, a robust 46.88 percent increase year-on-year. This climb reflects Nio’s consistent growth trajectory, as indicated by cumulative deliveries reaching 997,592 units by the end of December, just shy of the coveted one-million mark.

Li provided optimistic projections for the future, predicting that by 2030, the penetration rate of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in China will exceed 90 percent, with battery electric vehicles (BEVs) comprising over 80 percent of the total. Remarkably, BEV sales alone accounted for 61.9 percent of China’s NEV sales over the first 11 months of 2025, showcasing a rapidly growing sector compared to extended-range and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

Looking ahead, Nio plans to enhance its infrastructure, with a significant rollout of its fifth-generation battery swap stations beginning in the second quarter of 2026. The company aims to install over 1,000 new battery swap stations, bringing the total to well over 4,600 by the end of the year. This extensive network will support profitability while underpinning the company’s competitive edge in the market.

Additionally, Nio is set to expand its international footprint under the Firefly brand, targeting a presence in 40 countries and regions by 2026. This strategic move is expected to bolster Nio’s position in the global electric vehicle market and reflects the company’s commitment to innovation and user satisfaction.

In an industry increasingly focused on sustainable practices, Nio’s advancements not only demonstrate the company’s growth potential but also signal broader positive trends in the adoption of electric vehicles, suggesting a greener future.
