Nick Jonas recently opened up about the challenging early days of his daughter Malti Marie, who was born prematurely in January 2022. During a heartfelt interview on the “On Purpose with Jay Shetty” podcast, the singer described the emotional turmoil surrounding Malti’s birth, which came weeks earlier than expected.

Nick explained that he and wife Priyanka Chopra received a call indicating that their daughter would arrive sooner than the anticipated April due date. Malti was born via surrogate and weighed just one pound, 11 ounces. The circumstances were dire; according to Nick, Malti was initially delivered in a worrying condition, appearing purple. Thankfully, the dedicated staff in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) acted swiftly to resuscitate her, intubating her to provide the necessary assistance.

For the first three months of her life, Malti required continuous medical care, during which Nick and Priyanka supported their daughter through 12-hour shifts at the hospital. This experience not only tested their resilience as new parents but also showcased their deep commitment to Malti’s health and well-being.

Now, as Malti has made a remarkable recovery, her story exemplifies hope and the strength of family bonds during trying times. Nick expressed gratitude for the healthcare workers who played a pivotal role in saving his daughter’s life, highlighting the collaborative effort that went into her care. This experience has clearly shaped Nick and Priyanka’s perspective on parenthood, marking the beginning of a profound journey for their family.
