NAPLES, Italy — Napoli secured a 2-1 victory over Torino on Friday, closing the gap on second-place AC Milan to a mere point while reinforcing its status as the only Serie A team still unbeaten at home this season.

The match started favorably for Napoli, who took the lead within six minutes as Alisson Santos created space on the edge of the Torino penalty area and delivered a low shot that found the back of the net past Torino’s goalkeeper, Alberto Paleari. The home side continued to dominate the game, and midway through the second half, Eljif Elmas doubled the advantage by spinning and volleying Matteo Politano’s assist into the net.

In a notable return, Napoli coach Antonio Conte brought playmaker Kevin De Bruyne onto the pitch for his first appearance since an injury sidelined him in October. However, Napoli faced a tense finish when Cesare Casadei netted a late consolation goal for Torino, forcing the home team to defend vigorously in the final moments.

Despite the late scare, Napoli maintained its composure and preserved the three points, extending its lead over fourth-place Roma to five points. With a total of 56 points, Napoli now trails Milan by just one point and champions-elect Inter by 11.

The upcoming Milan derby on Sunday promises to bring further excitement to the Serie A standings, while Torino remains in 14th place with 30 points. Napoli’s performance not only highlights its championship aspirations this season but also showcases the depth and resilience of the squad as they strive for a top finish.
