Families in Sawanikula Village, Naitasiri, are celebrating a new era in educational accessibility with the recent inauguration of Naboro Junior Secondary School. The official opening ceremony took place this week, and the school has already welcomed 30 Year 9 students, supported by a dedicated team of seven teachers. This development is particularly significant as it alleviates the burden of lengthy travel distances that students previously faced when pursuing secondary education.
Honorable Aseri Radrodro, the Minister for Education, officiated the ceremony and highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing educational opportunities in rural areas. He noted that the establishment of Naboro Junior Secondary School is crucial in addressing the social challenges faced by youth in the community and aims to empower them through education.
To facilitate the new school, the Ministry of Education has contributed 30 desks and chairs along with library materials valued at $1,678. Additionally, the ongoing Back-to-School initiative, which provides financial assistance of $200 and eTransport cards, is aimed at further easing the educational experience for students in the area.
