IHG Fiji Hotels, under the ownership of the FNPF, has made a significant impact by raising $15,000 for Lifeline Fiji through its month-long Movember initiative. The campaign focused on suicide prevention and the improvement of men’s mental health services throughout the country.

Employees from renowned hotels such as the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel, and Holiday Inn Suva participated in a variety of fundraising activities. These included growing moustaches, hosting engaging challenges, and offering special themed items like cocktails, spa treatments, dessert sales, and a standout “Cup of Kindness” coffee initiative. This multifaceted approach not only involved the staff but also actively included hotel guests, cultivating a sense of community around this vital cause.

The collaboration between IHG Fiji and Lifeline Fiji was instrumental in providing both staff and guests with crucial mental health information and support, underscoring the importance of seeking help when needed. Lachlan Walker, the Regional General Manager for IHG Fiji and the Pacific, emphasized that the campaign reflects the organization’s commitment to employee wellbeing and fostering open discussions about mental health concerns.

Jeremaia Merekula, Director of Lifeline Fiji, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the funds raised, stating that these contributions will directly support essential services, including crisis helplines, counseling, and community outreach programs. This critical funding will greatly assist individuals in distress, ensuring they have timely access to necessary help.

Through their innovative fundraising strategies, IHG Fiji Hotels have not only made a financial contribution but have also significantly enhanced community awareness and support for mental health issues. The success of this initiative serves as an inspiring reminder of the powerful outcomes that can arise from collaborative efforts in promoting public health and wellbeing.
