Helen Massiell Garay Sanchez tragically lost her life in a Dollar Tree freezer in Miami on December 14th. Her cousin, Daniela Cortez, expressed the family’s deep confusion and sorrow over the circumstances surrounding her death. “We don’t know how this happened either, and we’re not getting any answers,” Cortez stated, echoing the family’s urgent need for clarity.

Responding to alerts about a deceased individual, Miami police discovered Sanchez’s body in the store’s freezer. Initial reports indicated that she had accessed a restricted employee area, where she remained overnight after entering the store without making a purchase. An employee found her the following morning. Authorities have stated that no foul play is suspected, but the investigation into her unclassified death is ongoing.

Sanchez was a devoted mother of two and a dedicated doctor from Nicaragua. A GoFundMe campaign has been established by Stefany Pereira to assist with financial burdens following her passing. Pereira highlighted Sanchez’s commitment to medicine and her compassionate nature, noting that her children were her greatest joy and that they remain in Nicaragua.

The family’s hope is to repatriate Sanchez’s body so she can be laid to rest in her homeland among her loved ones. Pereira concluded that any donations would greatly aid the family in honoring Sanchez’s life and legacy. A spokesperson for Dollar Tree expressed condolences, stating that the company is cooperating fully with authorities in the wake of this tragic incident.

This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of community support during difficult times. The outpouring of love for Sanchez demonstrates the impact she had on those around her, as her family navigates this immeasurable loss.
