Fans of “The Masked Singer” are expressing their frustration after the show made an abrupt schedule change, leading to its unexpected absence from the airwaves this Wednesday night. The hit competition series announced via Instagram that it would be taking a one-week hiatus, with plans to return on February 25 for a special “Spice Girls Night.”

The announcement has sparked disappointment among fans, with many taking to social media to voice their concerns. “No new episode of #TheMaskedSinger this week, but we’ll be back next Wednesday, February 25, for Spice Girls Night!” the show wrote. One fan lamented, “Nooo!!!! See y’all next week,” while another added, “I’m sorry you guys aren’t on this week,” reiterating their eagerness to see fan-favorite judges Ken, Robin, Rita, and host Nick.

While Fox, the network airing the show, has not provided an explicit reason for the scheduling change, it is speculated that the ongoing Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, which runs from February 6 to February 22, could be a factor. Many primetime shows are currently on pause due to the Games, including “High Potential,” “Fire County,” and “Saturday Night Live.”

Interestingly, “The Masked Singer” aired a Twilight-themed episode featuring Christina Perri just last week, indicating a willingness to compete with Olympic programming. However, with several gold medal events scheduled for Wednesday, it appears that this timing may have influenced Fox’s decision to take a break.

As anticipation grows for next week’s Spice Girls-themed episode, fans are hopeful for an exciting return that lives up to the show’s engaging reputation.
