Villagers in Wainiyabia, located in Serua, are calling upon the public to act responsibly when visiting the village’s picnic areas and to properly dispose of their waste. This plea comes from local resident Ben Nayacalevu, who pointed out a troubling rise in rubbish left behind by visitors from outside the community, particularly during busy holiday seasons.

Mr. Nayacalevu stressed that the careless disposal of waste is deteriorating the natural beauty of the area. “We are urging members of the public this festive season to dispose of their rubbish properly,” he stated, highlighting the growing issue of litter, which includes plastic waste and food packaging, found at popular picnic sites.

The local resident raised concerns over the potential environmental damage caused by ongoing littering, noting that it could obstruct nearby waterways, negatively affect marine life, and lead to long-term ecological issues. He encouraged visitors to be conscious of their impact on the environment, reminding them to take their rubbish home or utilize designated disposal bins if they are available.

This appeal serves as a reminder of the importance of environmental stewardship, especially in picturesque locations that attract numerous visitors. It is a hopeful call for communal responsibility and respect towards nature, aiming to preserve the natural surroundings for future generations.
