A 54-year-old man from Lautoka is currently hospitalized following a brutal attack at his home in Saweni this week, an incident that has left his family in a state of fear and uncertainty. Rosan Ali was reportedly kidnapped by a group of men who arrived in a twin cab and another vehicle. In a remarkable moment of courage, his daughter, Imrana Simran Ali, escaped by jumping from a moving car during what she believes was an attempted kidnapping.

Speaking to reporters, Yusuf Ali, Rosan’s elder brother, mentioned that more than five individuals were involved in the attack and conveyed the family’s confusion over the reasons behind the targeting of Rosan. He revealed that the family had received death threats prior to the incident.

Imrana shared her perspective on the events leading up to the attack, noting that a family friend, now suspected of being involved, had invited her out for drinks just hours before the ordeal. “I refused the offer, and I do not know why they are after me,” she stated. The situation escalated quickly, and after fleeing to a nearby friend’s house, she witnessed her father being assaulted.

When she called her uncle to check on Rosan, it was too late; by the time he arrived, her father had already been taken in the vehicle. Fortunately, a neighbor reported the incident to the police, and following a chase led by Rosan’s nephew, authorities managed to apprehend three suspects near the Saweni Mosque.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed the arrests and indicated that investigations are still underway to uncover the motive of the violent attack. As the investigation progresses, Rosan Ali remains in the hospital, and his family continues to seek answers and security amidst their distressing circumstances.

As the community rallies together in support, there is hope that justice will be served and that such acts of violence can be curbed to ensure the safety of all residents. The prompt response of the police reflects a commitment to resolving this troubling case, offering some assurance to the affected family and the wider community.
