The Pearl City Lady Chargers have triumphed once again, securing the Oahu Interscholastic Association (OIA) Division 2 Girls Basketball Championship after a hard-fought victory against the Kaiser Cougars, finishing 30-24. The thrilling match took place in front of an enthusiastic crowd at McKinley High School.

Facing a challenging third quarter where they found themselves trailing, the Lady Chargers rallied to take command in the final period, showcasing their determination and teamwork. This victory marks the second OIA D2 Championship for the team in 2023 under the guidance of Head Coach Kyle Martin, making it the third overall title for Pearl City High School’s Girls Basketball Program.

Kyrie Chen was a standout performer, leading her team with 10 points and earning the title of Spectrum OC16 Impact Player of the Game for her remarkable contribution. Trinidad Gonzalez Salazar added to the scoreboard with three impressive three-pointers, totaling nine points, while Riya Tobosa contributed eight points to the team’s success. On the opposing side, Lylamarie Moura from Kaiser was the top scorer of the game, netting 12 points.

The Lady Chargers are now set to advance to the HHSAA State Division 2 Girls Basketball Championships, taking place from February 4-7 at the Hilo Civic Center on the Big Island. The seeding and playoff schedule will be announced soon.
