Kiefer Sutherland was arrested early Monday morning following an altercation with a rideshare driver in Los Angeles. The 59-year-old actor, famous for his role as Jack Bauer in the acclaimed series 24, was taken into custody after reports of an assault involving the driver. The incident occurred shortly after midnight, prompting a response from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) to a call about the confrontation.

Witnesses reported that Sutherland entered the rideshare vehicle and allegedly assaulted the driver, subsequently making threats. The LAPD confirmed that no injuries requiring medical attention were reported by the rideshare driver at the scene. Sutherland was booked at the Hollywood division of the LAPD around 4:23 a.m. and was later released on a $50,000 bond by 11:30 a.m. the same day.

The felony charge against Sutherland pertains to criminal threats, applicable in cases where an individual threatens to cause severe bodily harm or death, intending to instill fear. Investigations into the incident are ongoing with detectives from the LAPD’s Hollywood Division actively pursuing the matter.

Sutherland’s notable career began in the 1980s, gaining significant recognition for films such as Stand By Me and The Lost Boys, leading to a resurgence in his fame with the launch of 24 in 2001. The series became a cultural phenomenon, employing a format that mimicked real time, resonating strongly with audiences in the wake of national traumas such as the September 11 attacks.

An initial court date for Sutherland has been set for February 2, and though this recent incident casts a shadow on his career, his legacy in Hollywood remains strong. His past successes serve as a reminder of his talented contributions to the film and television industry.
