Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expressed his appreciation to U.S. President Donald Trump for the invitation to attend the upcoming G20 summit. This acknowledgment came during a ceremony where he welcomed new U.S. Ambassador to Astana, Julie Stuff, as reported by the Akorda press service.
In his remarks, Tokayev highlighted the cordial and productive dialogue he had with President Trump, noting a recent telephone discussion that covered various topics regarding bilateral cooperation. “I am grateful for the invitation to take part in the G20 summit, which will be held in the United States later this year,” he stated confidently, emphasizing Kazakhstan’s commitment to enhancing its strategic partnership with the United States across numerous sectors.
Earlier in December, Trump announced that leaders from both Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan would be invited as guests to the G20 summit, set to take place in Miami in 2026, sharing the news via a post on the social media platform Truth Social.
Julie Stuff, confirmed as the U.S. Ambassador to Astana on October 7, 2025, brings a wealth of experience to her role. She previously served as deputy assistant to the president and executive secretary of the National Security Council, and has an extensive background in various diplomatic missions, including those in Russia, Ethiopia, and Poland.
This positive engagement between Kazakhstan and the United States signifies a strengthening of ties, with both nations looking toward future collaborations on a multitude of issues.
