The Detroit Pistons have confirmed the trade of guard Jaden Ivey to the Chicago Bulls as part of a three-team deal. This major trade will also see the Pistons acquire guard Kevin Huerter and forward Dario Saric, along with a 2026 first-round protected swap from the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Ivey’s departure marks the end of a four-year stint with the Pistons, during which he played 214 games and averaged 14.9 points and 4.0 assists per game. Selected as the fifth overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, Ivey was initially seen as a key piece for the Pistons’ future, showcasing promise with averages of 16.1 points and 4.4 assists through his first 181 games.
However, injuries have hampered his performance in recent seasons. After sustaining a broken left fibula on January 1, 2025, Ivey has faced challenges in reclaiming his prior position within the team. Since making his season debut on November 22 against the Milwaukee Bucks, he has played in 33 games, making just two starts, and is averaging 8.2 points over 16.8 minutes on the court this season.
As the Pistons look to reshape their roster, this trade reflects a strategic move aimed at boosting their lineup while giving Ivey a fresh start with the Bulls. His potential to revive his career in Chicago could be an exciting development for both Ivey and the Bulls.
