JACK’S of Fiji, a prominent brand within the Jacks group of companies, has entered into a significant two-year sponsorship partnership with the Tailevu Rugby Football Union (TRFU). This collaboration marks a vital step for both entities, reaffirming their commitment to enhancing the game of provincial rugby in Fiji.
The partnership comes after over two months of constructive negotiations, focusing on mutual goals such as improving grassroots rugby, prioritizing player welfare, and establishing sustainable pathways for the sport within Tailevu Province. At the official signing ceremony held on Wednesday, Jason Kumar, the marketing officer of the Jacks group, shared his excitement about the partnership, emphasizing the alignment with the company’s core values and its history of supporting community development through sports.
Kumar remarked, “With its rich rugby legacy and strong community roots, Tailevu is an ideal partner for us, and we believe that this collaboration will play a significant role in the advancement and longevity of provincial rugby.” He highlighted that the partnership transcends mere branding and apparel support, focusing on accountability, performance, and measurable community impact.
The sponsorship deal includes support for official apparel and merchandise, financial assistance, and branding collaborations, with a model based on merchandise royalties aimed at creating sustainable revenue for the Union. Joseph Rodan Snr, president of the Tailevu Rugby Football Union, praised the partnership, calling it a crucial enhancement to the Union’s operations and long-term strategic goals.
Rodan expressed gratitude towards JACK’S of Fiji, stating, “We are honoured to be associated with a respected Fijian brand that shares our vision for grassroots development, strong governance, and long-term sustainability.” He added that the support will significantly aid players, clubs, and officials as they gear up for upcoming prestigious provincial competitions such as the Skipper Cup and Farebrother Trophy. Moreover, the partnership nurtures investment in youth development and village-based clubs that are essential to the foundation of Tailevu rugby.
This collaboration not only promises to uplift rugby within the province but also reflects a broader dedication to community empowerment and sustainable sporting initiatives in Fiji.
