Hunter Biden has recently voiced his concerns about illegal migration, emphasizing that the United States should not allow immigrants to “drain” its resources. Speaking on an episode of the Shawn Ryan Show podcast, Biden acknowledged the importance of a robust immigration system but highlighted the need to prioritize resources for veterans and others who have faced significant challenges.

He stated, “We need a vibrant immigration, but we don’t want immigrants that are coming here illegally, draining us of resources and being prioritized above people that are literal heroes, that are still recovering from 20 years of endless war.” Furthermore, Biden expressed his belief that veterans should take precedence in the allocation of resources over those without legal status, saying, “What you prioritize” should be giving veterans hotel accommodations instead.

Biden’s remarks come at a critical time, as immigration remains a pivotal issue in the 2024 presidential election. Border crossings and asylum policies have drawn substantial public attention, with his father’s administration facing criticism for its asylum policies, which opponents argue have weakened border enforcement. According to the Congressional Budget Office, annual net migration averaged 2.4 million people from 2021 to 2023.

In the podcast, Biden also defended President Joe Biden’s administration, mentioning an agreement reached with Republicans regarding a substantial Senate border bill, which Donald Trump later persuaded them to reject. He remarked, “And then Donald Trump stepped in six months before the election and told [Republicans] that he was gonna primary every single one of them that voted for that.”

Despite his criticisms, Biden expressed uncertainty about his political future, stating, “I don’t even know if I’m a Democrat anymore.” He previously criticized Trump’s immigration policies in a July interview, expressing frustration that many Democrats have not effectively addressed public concerns about illegal immigration.

Biden’s comments have sparked reactions on social media, with various figures weighing in. Shawn Ryan noted the importance of open dialogue, stating that differing opinions contribute to valuable discussions. In contrast, right-wing commentator Nick Sortor called out Biden’s criticism of his father’s policies, while Benny Johnson remarked that Biden’s statements were unexpected yet impactful.

As immigration remains a heated topic with implications for the upcoming election, Biden’s remarks reflect a growing recognition within political circles that illegal migration must be addressed while balancing the needs of both veterans and immigrants.
