Gonzaga Track launched its season in Spokane with stellar performances, highlighted by a new program record and multiple victories.

Greta Dani made headlines by breaking the Gonzaga record for the fastest indoor 200 meters, clocking in at 25.2 seconds. She followed this up with an impressive run in the 400 meters, where she recorded the second fastest time in Gonzaga history at 58 seconds, securing a second-place finish overall.

In the 800 meters, Hayden Roberts displayed remarkable speed and endurance, clinching victory after fending off Ferran Verges from Washington State. Roberts’ time of 1:53.40 ranks third in Gonzaga’s indoor track history. Notably, Charlie Goss also achieved a personal record, finishing third with a time of 1:55.69.

The Zags demonstrated their dominance in the 3000 meters, with Anna Grabowski taking first place and setting the sixth fastest time for Gonzaga with a finish of 9:28.46—she shaved nearly 13 seconds off her previous best. Her outstanding performance contributed to a clean sweep for Gonzaga, as Nina Yeats and Ava Sutherland followed closely behind to secure the second and third spots with times of 9:41.9 and 9:45.8, respectively.

Looking ahead, the Gonzaga team is eager to build on this success at The Podium, as they prepare for their next competition at the Spokane Sports Showcase on January 16th. The promising results from this meet provide an optimistic outlook for the team’s season.
